Not too worried about ctl since I didn't even know what mine was last year, but a little sad to see it drop like a roller coaster after 2 rides in 14 days.

2.5hr ride with a ~16 minute climb @ just above FTP to make it honest, 132 TSS. Highlight was riding along the ridgeline and seeing the usually depressing urban sprawl in the valley completed obscured by a 'sea of clouds'.

109/-11 currently, pretty constant for the last 6 weeks after a relatively crazy ramp in August where I don't think I ever came up for air above -50. I don't put a lot of weight into the PMC though because it isn't super useful for me and just listening to my body seems to work better.

nah .. last race was a week and a half ago, so taking a couple weeks to just relax, do some house chores, etc before slowly ramping things back up.

My Ctl is 68 when starting from zero in July when I got my power meter. I should have tried to incorporate my previous heart rate training to seed the Ctl but I haven't taken the time to do it.

In the Midwest and rented a road bike so hopefully will find somewhere nice to ride

I've commuted the last two days and otherwise haven't ridden my bike since racing last Wednesday night. Came down with a nasty head cold that really knocked me on my ass the second half of last week and over the weekend. Now I'm mostly better, but it's lingering and the result is that I haven't really done anything this week and don't have time to do anything before another double-header race weekend coming up. I guess the positive spin is that I was due for a rest anyway, and I am now VERY well-rested. So there's that. I just hope that my throat isn't still full of garbage and my head full of mucus come Saturday.

No, *I* have a slow heart. Assuming tempo = Z3ish, my HR is usually around 135-140. My LTHR is 162.

This is probably the best summary I can make of this year; from day one 2015 has been an uphill battle. Sometime in April I considered ebaying all my cycling stuff since my leg was not improving. Once it healed, two crashes were ill timed so there hasn't been much racing. Got a few races and an upgrade series in the next few weeks, so this is essentially my race season. So far the build to them has been perfect, how I transition to the regular season that starts in January is going to be interesting.

Ouchy mid year @furiousferret

My last calendar year looks like this (from strava since my TrainingPeaks seems to limit viewing to 90 days). Nothing in late 2014 while finishing grad school, then some solid building of fitness. Totally derailed by illness in May. Tried to rebuild for Cascade in late July and then just gradually eased off for the season.

Mine is five bpm higher than my predicted max. IMO much of that difference is due to our being accustomed to long stays in the pain cave.

If you're using their online suite, training peaks lets you define the chart view for as long as you'd like.

Here's my chart, just cuz all of these charts are cool as hell.

220-age says my max HR is 190, when my LTHR is 185, and I've seen a max of 203 this year.

63/-1 Just starting base stuff now. Gonna have to figure out how to get past the 90 minute barrier on the trainer if I want to hit my goal of 80 without being in a massive tsb hole when the season starts in February.

went for a 14 mile spin on the rental bike. I got a trek alpha 1.5 with tiagra 9 speed and compact chainset (in contrast to my mid 90s 8 speed 105). Definitely a lot more relaxed geometry, plus with spacers and stem I don't think the saddle to bar drop is very much. Wasn't bad though. but the ride was much more smooth on the trek than on mine, my frame is a bit harsh. Being in the flattish Midwest, the compact gearing wasn't really tested, but I kinda like using a 50 big ring as opposed to my 53. Also, I had platform pedals (didn't bring mine) so I looked really cool with my running shoes. It's all good, I was on MUPs so all in all it was a very poseur day!

Yes, but not the first few weeks of off season.. It's the transition phase, for me anyway.

maybe I'm just mad bc my ctl is hovering around 55 lately.

Maybe. I don't usually feel the need to take a bunch of time off because I'm not tired. For me, especially being older, time off is just creating a bigger hole to dig out of.
