Took Thursday and Friday off.

Today, just riding around on the trainer for 2 hours while watching a documentary about Pantani, and some of 30/30 lemond/badger; then Nordic skate skiing for a short time, then shoveling, then more shoveling.

If nothing else comes out of this winter, I feel like a much more well informed fan when watching pro stage race feeds. Today's lesson is, even if you feel like ass you can't cut your usual rest day volume or you'll probably feel even weirder the following day. Today will be...interesting...

I actually do, the first hour usually loosens me up and the last 30 flushes crap out. I ended it early cuz I wasn't all that psyched to be on the trainer yesterday.

interesting. i usually just default to an hour because i figured anything much more than that was kind of useless.

Pretty much everything I've read on recovery rides says the benefit is limited to about 1 hour. Furthermore, the "flushing out" mechanism has been pretty much debunked. At the very least I doubt that anything special happens between 60 and 90mins.

If you want recovery rides to be more effective, eat something right before or during - they are about putting stuff in.

setup tents, cones, signs etc, then helping with timing by calling out race numbers that rolled through the finish area.

but mostly standing around and chatting with my teammates

Ah, heard you calling out numbers but will admit I'd be unable to pick you out in a crowd.

That was me out there, the one on the TT bike.

18.5 hours and around 900 ish TSS and -40 ish TSB. I'm thinking rest week before the first USAC official race of the season.

Also I cleaned my bike today. I don't often do that. Toothbrush on all the components. But it felt good to race on a clean bike today.

An hour works when I'm riding less. Riding more definitely requires a bit more spinning for me on easy days. Don't call it flushing out, call it magic. It just seems to work better for me.
