stupid newbie questions...

Do you have to buy a $60 "racing license" to enter absolutely ANY road race?

I would like to try doing some races, and was looking on bikereg.com. It looks like a lot of the races require you to be a USCF member, is that true for all of them? Also, does anybody know of races in the mid-Atlantic region that don't fill up months ahead of time?

Question 1 I can answer, questions 2, no.

But you do not have to have a USCF year licence to race USCF events, you do have to have a one day licence to race though (10 dollars). That is just the way it works, but if you do quite a few races than the 60 dollars in worth it...

Gotcha, thanks! I think I'll try it out for $10 and then decide to take the plunge
