Feed zone questions
Ok questions on feed zone
Been doing a few cat 5 races with USA cycling.
I didn't know how the feedzone works.
Is feed zone only location you can receive water and food from?
The races I did . Can you take water and food from anyone?
Or can anyone hand you stuff?
Would it.be ok to hand out water to a friend who is going by?
Link about feed zone please?

Yes, unless you're in a pro race with a caravan. It'd be much too dangerous for people to just randomly take feeds.
No.
Yes, anyone that's handing something up can hand it to you...
Of course.
Each individual race will have feedzone designations. Some races have neutral that anyone can have. They'll usually let you know before the race, though, and neutral will shout out something like "neutral" or "water" so you know which one to grab. It's quite frowned upon to steal someone else's bottle, but I see it happening from time to time when guys get desperate. Can be fairly comical if the owner of said bottle sees the transgression and confronts the "thief".

A race I did, the neutral feed was placed on a small table by the side of the road, not close enough to be reached while riding. Not sure if they were expecting people to stop to grab a bottle or what.

Also, typically most Cat 5 RRs aren't long enough to need feedzones. Back in my C5 days, worst case was a long hot summer race of 50 miles. 2 bottles on the bike and 1 in my jersey was enough for me.

From another thread by the OP:
A good use for the View Public Profile --> User Lists --> Add to Ignore List
This particular OP has a history of asking basic questions about racing and rules that could easily be answered by looking them up in the rule book. Yet, he continues to post these questions but never engages responses or in any discussion. Rather, he seems to be using the form to Google things for him.
I'd be more than happy to engage in discussions on this topic, if that were the case. But with this OP, it is not.

There are rules, then there is how it is done.
You are a Cat 5. If you need to eat and drink - do it.
Rules...
Yes - if there is a feed zone. Meaning there may be more than one or even cars. But if there is a feed zone, that is the only place you are allowed to feed.
No. You may take water from other riders. Only your team support may feed you.
Again - nobody cares at cat 5 - if you need to drink - drink.
If they are a rider, it is in the rules, if they are not a rider, it is not in the rules. If you need water - drink it.
So many sports, even in the Olympics, don't follow rules over water. If you need water, take it. NO ref is going to make a Cat 5 issue of it.
