who in the break is able to come with. what teams are represented in those dudes. how big a break. how big a gap. who is chasing. how long remains in the race. what's the wind/terrain situation and knowing how that impacts chase efforts. am I in the break for my placing or am I out front to make other teams chase to benefit a teammate back in the field?
turns out racing is a lot more than legs.

Yeah, that was what they were called.
I didn't train with a power meter, but I suspect that my "on" power was quite a bit higher than my threshold power doing them. Probably quite a bit higher than 108% of threshold mentioned earlier. I typically did them 2 mph faster than what I could maintain for 60 minutes in the same non-aero configuration (no aero bars/no aero wheels/no aero helmet).
And I found that doing these allowed me to really bury myself with a singular match burn for 5 to 8 minutes at 5 to 6 mph faster than my threshold speed. I was pretty toasted after that, but could recover.
That is why I suggested these as a training tool for longer bridging efforts. It worked for me. YMMV.

I bridged to a break today.
Took 2:43, AP first 40 seconds was ~700. AP/NP for the entire effort was 370/430.
I probably could have gotten there sooner, but chasing high power downhill is stupid so I took my time and was fresh enough to work immediately when I got there.
