Question about not not going to Europe:
I may be going on a "temporary" assignment to Prestwick, UK for my company. I'd like to keep racing while I'm over there. How does licensing work? Do I get a national license in the UK even though I'm a US citizen?

If you're here for any time you'll want a BC membership and at least a silver racing licence, details here -

I'm told BC respond to emails pretty well so assuming you want to come in as anything other than Cat 4 you're best off emailing or phoning them.

For Belgium, I got an International USAC license and have a letter from the USAC expressing their permission for me to race there.
Other guys have their regular license, then jumped through 1,000,000 hoops to prove that they live in Belgium to get a Belgian license.

Probably to prove that he's not slotted for a national or Olympic team and jeopardizing his future with the US national organization by racing in Europe.

That, and a few years ago some Dutch pros came over and won every race they wanted. This didn't sit right with the Flanders racing federation and they required foreigners to have a letter of permission.
I actually don't have to show mine anymore becuase I'm registered with a Flemish team.
