It's a great race. You ride a 22-mile curcuit x number of times depending on your category. There is a hill on the way into town where you can try to drop some folks but it isn't long and not steep. Then you turn left at the top and start riding on the "cobbles". These are actually bricks but they can shake the snot out of you - last year my right brifter slipped causing my back wheel to completely lock up. The hills aren't very hard - short rollers. There are a couple of sharp turns - the main hazard is the gravel strewn over the road when you make these turns. It's a good atmosphere and well worth a trip. Last year was a scorching day - 90 degrees for April.

Totally fun and hard (for the pace) race. Go for it! It's great that the community kind of gets into it too.
Agree, the gravel in turns(a Southern Illinois staple) is the worst part so, use sense and watch those around you. Otherwise shouldn't be an issue.
Great race for folks who don't like to do crits.

I think I will be there this year. It sounds like a cool race. I did the BIathlon there a few years ago and had a great time. That course was just out and back though and I think it is in June, but I'm not sure. I am pretty psyched, let me know if you head there. Ron
