I was wondering what people thought about racing coverage in magazines. I really like Cycle Sport's feature articles and photography, but their race coverage is so late. That wouldn't be bad, but they devote much of their magazine to race coverage. Its a bummer getting the latest issue with their predictions for the Giro, and the Giro just ended! I don't read Velonews much so I can't really comment on it. What do you think?

I read PEZcyclingnews.com, velonews.com and cyclingnews.com (usually in that order) on a daily basis. Print's fine for in-depth articles, but for timely race coverage you'll have to go online.

cyclingnews.com is the best, hands down, for timely race coverage. Real-rag-wise, Cycle Sport generally has the best features, etc., but you're right -- you can't rely on them for timeliness. VeloBlues is OK, but they've always had a heavy domestic interest (understandably), and as a fan, my interest is 95% Europe. That's the beauty of cyclingnews: Aussie outfit, covers everything -- Euro, North America, Australasia -- plus live race coverage! Can't beat it! Trying cyclingtv.com, so far with mixed results.

On-line cylcingnews.com, Pez and Velonews.com. In print I subscribe to CycleSport and Velonews. For a while I was going one year CS then one year ProCycling but they are pretty much one in the same so I just re-newed my CS subscription.

I agree 100% veloduo. Cylingnews.com is certainly where its at for race coverage, and I hate to say it, but I'm just not that interested in the American racing scene so I don't subscribe to Velonews. Maybe if there was such a thing as an American racing scene things would be different. Although, I have the feeling that things are changing for the better. With the success of the TofC, and after the hightened visibility the sport has received thanks to Lance and Co., I think corporate sponsors are going to want to latch onto the next big thing. Couldn't one picture a nascar-like domestic racing series with a race every sunday in a different part of the country? If that existed I would certainly read Velonews!

I read all the online sources as noted - always amazed at how comprehensive cyclingnews.com is; they'll have news items on events that are so localized in the US the local rag doesn't even cover them. Print-wise, CS I like a lot, ProCycling for some great bike reviews and now and again Road. If my wife isn't looking I'll get all 3 at the same time. I need to subscribe to CS though.
