Hmm at 7 springs huh...count on climbing....in fact I am not sure there are any roads in that area that are ever flat. I can topo the routes later and post something tonight if someone doesn't get to it first.

That would be awesome if you could topo those routes! I'm a big guy and want to know if the 46k RR loop is a bunch of power climbs or actual 39x23 five-mile grinds. Also, wondering if the TT is fairly flat. I'd imagine they'll keep us on some kind of rolling river road or such for the TT specialists.

Here's hoping for a bunch of short, big gear climbs in the RR and a flat TT and a power-climb crit!

Interesting. A couple of long grinds, and a couple of short steep climbs, but nothing too steep and long.
This works for me.

And yes, my elbow is totally better, thank you. I did a 40 mile RR yesterday and I didn't notice any pain.

I was gonna show up and kick your ass in the RR, but decided I should probably get out of Cat 4 first. And since that won't be happening any time soon, I guess I'll just have to sit back and dream.
Best of luck! 6' + represent!

There are Masters races also, you need to be a Cat 3 or higher to enter the master's races.

Men's Elite nats RR is cat 1 only.

All masters events are cat 1-2-3.

U-23's are cat 1-2.

Women's elite RR is cat 1-2.

Juniors are cat 1-2-3.

Elite TT might be open to categories other than just cat 1's, not sure.

Thanks for the topography. Anybody know what 1200 feet in 5 miles equals for average gradient?

Grade is rise/run so 4.5% for a 1200' climb that takes 5 miles.

Is it the same road course they used for Collegiate Nats in 1999?

If so, I suggest we all take up golf.

This is the profile I came up with for the 33 KM TT. Looks like it's a roller with 100 meters of elevation change overall. It's an out, and back course.

Climb, and descent elevations are equal at 706.5. Look at the min elevation, and max elevation, only about 100 meters (333 feet) of rise overall. I'm not going to be in any of the races, but I may do a pre-ride on this puppy just to check it out.

^^^^ Yeah, but what really matters is how much total elevation change you're doing over the distance of the course.
