2nd Place Today
Got to use my new TT bars today at the Estacada Time Trials. They were comfy and while I didn’t get to analyze my position too much beforehand there was someone taking pictures. I figure that’ll be the ultimate way to see what I look like as opposed to on the trainer. It was really windy out there pounding us with 15 mph winds.
The first place guy was almost ten minutes faster than me; the guy behind me was like a minute behind. The course was 20 miles out and back with a 1,500 ft elevation gain. My ave was 20.1 mph; max 34 mph; ave HR was 166; official time was 59:56 so I made goal. I’m really interested to see what it’ll be like next week. I rode conservatively and stayed at LT the whole time, but I felt really good. I’m going to try to ride harder to see what an all out effort will yield timewise.
The guys from the forums went for a ride this morning and I really wanted to join in. They’re a great group and I’ll miss that comraderie. Then again, I’m glad I skipped and went to Estacada. The placing was well worth it. I'll soak that up. It doesn't happen often.
