Training Cassettes
I run a 53/39 front on an 11-23 (10 sp). I race TT/Crit/Road and then triathlon in the summer (Half/Full Iron)
I just picked up a 12-25 cassette on a new wheelset since I got a free cassette with it and I already had a 11-23.
I'm a high cadence 90-100 rider very lean 165 lb. and I spin hills.
This is my first 12-25 cassette.
Questions...
Do I need to train on a 12-25 casette or can I just swap it out when I get into a hillier race
My plan was to train on a 12-25 when the ride I would doing I would pick a 12-25 in a race.
I'm caught in the jam, some advice from the more experienced would help

Except for some cases with extreme downhills, I will use my 12-25. I use an 11-23 for TTs (unless there are hills). It is rare that you will get to your 11 and more likely that you would drop down into a lower gear for hills, particularly if you like to spin ~100 rpms.
The only thing I would bring up additionally is that I train Ultegra, and race DA. In addition I am very particular about chain wear so that I don't get skipping problems (due to cassette wear on the training cassette).

Depends on your region and the terrain. If you're only using the 25 for your "last resort" cog (after you've cracked), then it's no big deal (sort'a like some of us with our 27's). However, in my region, it's usually a 25 unless you're a flatland-race-only kind'a guy. All the best climbers I've trained with use 25's (and often race on them) around here. Personally, I think many guys like the rhythm of a 25. I sometimes train with a very good climber, and it's nice seeing him drop me while doing 95 RPM up a long steep hill. I notice that good climbers try to use the lightest gears they can efficiently spin, and their finesse on the pedals pays off after 5 minutes on the steep stuff, when guys like me start fading.

I had my first long ride on an 12-25 yesterday and I love it. I love climbing (I also love downhills), but I'd rather have to tuck on a downhill and be able to really spin uphill. On a climb I like to be at about 95 RPM.
I guess I'll be saving the 11-23 for my flat races.
