The "Race 2 Replace" race for a Team Discovery spot...anyone going to do it?

Sorry if this has already been posted. I did a search and didn't really see anything about it. Apparently, whoever wins the race, gets a spot on Team Discovery. Even if it was the "water-boy" (or girl) it would be pretty exciting. Maybe someone from the forum will win? I pulled this off the www.race2replace.com website which was featured on a Discovery Channel commercial (It just links to their team site though):

Want to Race With Team Discovery?

Here's your chance to find out more information about the Race To Replace Lance Armstrong and how to potentially ride as a member of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team at the U.S. Pro Championships in September!
To qualify, you'll need to compete in the Race to Replace, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

One winner makes the Discovery Channel team. It could be You!

Click here to visit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. You can sign up to receive more information about the Race To Replace and notification for registration information. Or, come back later when registration opens in May.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation will receive your request for information and will enter you into their database. To find out more about the Lance Armstrong Foundation and their mission to inspire and empower people affected by cancer, go to www.livestrong.org.

If I was in contention for that, I probably wouldn't be posting here (would be too busy riding) .

I'm planning to race, but I'm certainly not planning to win.

Today's ride:

35 miles, solo
1,230 feet of climbing
Annoying headwind for the first half
1 hour 56 minutes (17.8mph average)

Nope, not trying out.

Haha, with all the hotheads around these foruns, I'd like to see more people step up to the challenge. It'll be funny to watch this tv. Are they filming it? It would get tons of viewers on discovery. Get in the reality tv craze, we love to see agony and pathetic people getting their dreams crushed. I smell a new Fox reality hit.

Is there any information on the event? The disco website doesn't say much. What is the format of this thing?

Yeah, I'd like to know if it's open to all catagories, and what the course profile is. I'd only do it if it finished with a huge climb.

Too bad they aren't doing it at a place like Infineon Raceway. That has some killer courses with 10-12 turns and a huge wall. That would make for a more interesting race. then we could also get Pizza Man to show up because of the climb.

Well, you might as well send me to France and give me the yellow jersey now, 'cause that spot is mine!

Pretty cool idea, I must admit. Talk about getting milage out of 'finding' a new rider. What are the chances a previously unknown rider is going to come from nowhere? I must admit I find the notion exciting, a little far retched but exciting none the less to think some messer or club rider from nowhere ends up on Discovery. What's the race like...setup distance wise??

It wouldn't surprise me if there's some guy out there, who does nothing but trains solo, and maybe is too shy or could care less about the racing or club scene, who could handle thier own as at least a domestique.
