Seward Park Crit Seattle
I am going to be visiting the weekend of the Masters Crit Championships and thought that Maybe I would bring my bike and get a race in Sunday morning. I haven't done this course before and though I like the description of a 200M climb (what is the grade?) I am not a fan of a 140 degree turn (I had a 150 degree turn in a crit a few weeks back that seriously stomped me). Can you tell me a bit about the turn? Is are they wide roads at the turn? Is there gravel? Is there a pitch? Is it near the bottom or top of a climb? Just want to see if it is worth the hassle of bringing my bike out. Thanks for any info. PS. Anyone doing the TT that saturday?

Whooooooooo!! I'll be there racing in Jr B. The course (depending on which way round they decide to do it) isn't too bad. If they start with the downhill, it can be a bit touch & go because it's easy to hit 30-35 on the descent and there's a turn at the bottom that can jump out at you when you're going fast. Momentum from there will throw you into the uphill which is OK (for ref.; the race 3 weeks ago climbed at about 15mph). The 140 degree turn is right at the top of the climb so you won't be going too fast anyways.
if however, they do it the other way around the 140 degree turn can be a bit of a shocker which is quickly followed by the downhill. Then you climb back up and climb and gradual grade back to the finish. Laps are 0.8 miles each, no gravel and the turn is wide enough. The only thing to watch out for is the descents and the possiblity of leaves or a bit of dampness on the road because it is mostly shaded.
You'll have to wait for them to come back up but head over to https://www.radracingnw.org and look at the left hand side and download the Junior Nationals Video. Despite the title, from 2:20 into the movie until the end is all footage of Seward Park. You can also check out this https://wheelsinfocus.com/2006/Roadphotos.htm and scroll down to Seward Park 4/30/06 to scope parts of the course. Here is a wayfarer version of the course:
