French Broad Cycling Classic

Yeh, there should be many jokes about this, but there isn't... yet. Feel free...

So, I don't race anymore, just there for fun, but tried to snap some pics. It was extremely hot and humid, one guy crossed the line on a turn and hit a car head on. I didn't get word of his condition, but he was ticketed. Crit tomorrow, so hopefully more pics if the baby stays calm.

Sorry I'm not a great photographer, but just trying to do my part. More people should get out just to watch the races.

Chris,

I did the French Broad

The TT is a great TT course and the crit was a fun course too. The RR was OK but I figure if your in the mountains why not lay out a course that has some serious climbing in it. The heat was bad but I think it's been bad for so long that I got used to it. All in all though it was a fun race and I really like hanging out in Ashville.

Got a few pics of the crit up on the same page.

I asked about the course, last year it was a mountain top finish and very exciting (from a spectators view). The official said they were trying to keep it mellow in a developmental sense, as it is just a little regional race. I would have liked to see you guys suffer up Mt Mitchell and other crazy climbs, but not having that, maybe one climb would have been nice. The finish line was pathetic, again, from a spectators view.

The crit course was fun, not Asheville's most beautiful place, but I liked it better than last years as it was much shorter (and more fun to watch). The lapping of the pack by one rider in the 1/2's was great! Same thing happened last year, a break of 2, one being the national crit champ.

Come back next year! We love to watch the races :-)

Yea last year that was Scottie Weiss. He can ride like the wind. I did like the crit course this year. I liked last years too. They are sort of opposite extremes. Last year I had never done a crit so long, it was more of a kermesse style course. Then this year I have never done a crit so short. I actually thought it was a pretty cool area of town. It looked sort of dumpy but there were art studios all over the place. I am guessing space is pretty cheap out there so the artists can build nice studios.
