Psychological effect of sunglasses

Does anyone wear sunglasses for the purpose of hiding your eyes from opponents or maintaining an intimidating appearance? I've never worn sunglasses in races, but after seeing some photos, I think my poker face could use some work.

I almost always wear sunglasses to keep bugs out of my eyes. The one time I didn't wear glasses, a bug hit me in the eye. Boy did that hurt!! Fortunately my eye was ok, but I thoguht never again!!!!
In crits, I am too far back for anyone to bother noticing my menacing look.

I feel far more intimidating when I'm not trying to blink crap out of my eyes, or when they're not swollen shut from allergic conjunctivitis.

So, yeah, I guess I wear them to intimidate.

I don't know how important eye contact is in a race really. I always look for body language, someone standing up, going down to their drops, looking over their shoulder, muscles tensing for a sign that someone may try something.

I guess if your trying to get back in line after you've been to the front, you might want to try to intimidate someone by staring hard to let you back in, but most of the time they let you unless someone just took a flyer off the front. If I really want in, I just barge.

what can I say, Ive only been in one "race", but despite wearing shades, I was sitting in the staging area just trying to make everyone laugh. Kinda hard to be intimidating after that.

No, but I do wear them so bugs, rocks, rain (clear lenses), or anything flying around doesn't hit me in the eye.
