Vuelta on Cycling TV
Did you guys get the email from Cycling TV basically begging you to buy the Veulta coverage for the survival of the sport (read the survival of cycling TV)? Have to admit I'm conflicted. Part of me wants to say screw it , and not pay any attention to professional racing at least for awhile. On the other hand I kinda want to see Cycling TV survive. It appears that they believe that the Landis situation is a serious threat to their business model.

I'm in for the Vuelta. Will be signing up tomorrow night. I'm already premium. Looking forward to it.
I'm thinking that if there are any devastating drug positives they might try to hide or conceal them....because it not only seems to hurt the riders who cheat, but also threatens the sport and scares away sponsors. What good is the chemo if it always kills the patient as well as the cancer? NFL football learned this a long time ago. I think the organizers of the grand tours are coming around to this idea...especially after last year's Vuelta and now Floyd's Tour. Getting off topic!

Yeah, I don't really understand the tone of these emails from Cycling TV, most of their coverage was bought and sold before any of the real fallout from operation puerto/phloydtosterone and they really seem to be turning up the volume to sell the Vuelta. I think maybe buying the Vuelta feed was a bit of a risk or maybe they did it months ago and are just now feeling the pinch. In spite of my issues with the quality of the coverage I'll be ponying up again just so I can have something slightly interesting to watch over coffee at 5 AM.
