Great ride Bettini, bad luck for Zabel. He nearly had it.
WTF were O'Grady and McEwen doing? They both looked to fall asleep on the corner about 800m to go and watched the race ride away!!!

Maybe the hills got the better of them...
All I know is that I want a Team Burkina Faso jersey... Always good to hear those kind of stories. Just goes to show that it's all about perspective, and for many the greatest victory is showing up.

Is anyone really a Bettini fan? I really have a hard time supporting a guy that speaks of himself in the third person; it just seems cheesy. I was hoping Valverde would take it.

It'll be interesting to see how Bettini figures out how to wear Olympic gold and the WC colors at the same time.

What was this year's course like? What kind of rider was it supposed to have favored (at least in principle)...

Man! I wanted Zabel to win it!.... after watching "Hell On Wheels" I have become a Zabel follower. I have a lot of respect for a guy that has over 200 wins to his career and is STILL winning against guys that are over a decade younger!

Nice to see all three guys on the podium looking really happy for their placings and for the winner.

Again, go to cyclingnews.com. They have all of the relevant info there. I don't mean to come off as an ass but they're a great source of info, and instead of being left in the dark, you can read up on all of this stuff.

I read through the articles - thanks for posting them. I got the impression that it wasn't
a pure-sprinters course or am I wrong on this??? I kind of pictured Boonen, McEwen and
some of those guys further up. So was there too much climbing or distance for some of
these guys to handle? and Thor finished really far back I think. What's up with that?

Well when they say "creating a split up the Gschaiderberg" many times in the article, it usually indicates a pretty hard climb. And when you multiply that by 10, yeah, thats a lot of climbing.
Definitely not a pure sprinters course, if that wasn't clear enough.
