2x20' today (yesterday = intense crit) I wanted to see if I could do 2x20 after such an effort. Ended up being SST.
1x20 @ 277
1x20 @ 272

FTP ~ 280.
Tomorrow 2 hrs tempo/endurance with a cat1 friend who hasn't trained in 5 years.
They still haven't posted results from the crit... I'm so eager cause i think i might have top10ed for the first time ever.

Cool. Thanks. And you too RTC. I really am enjoying this even though it hurts sometimes. Hopefully some benefit will be there afterwards as well!

Did a pure recovery pace today. Well almost. Maybe a little endurance pace in there. Man that was really enjoyable! Had a flat though. 5th one in a couple of weeks. Then I didn't seat the tire properly when fixing and POW! Blew out the new tube . I was in a hurry to beat the rain. Still did, but I had to SAG it in (called my mom to bring my van and I drove home in shame) .

it's not a repetitive injury, it's a landing mostly on my knee and the guy in front of me injury. It's probably moot as these trips never actually allow for any real riding.

resting all week, early to bed, getting a solid 8 hrs. of sleep. pacing workout on wed on the TT setup (which is just aerobars on an old road bike with the saddle jammed forward), some openers at lunch today and stage racing this weekend. I'm on the fence over whether this'll be my last race as a cat 3, i've got upgrade fever, but still a couple things I want to take care of.

btw - this stage race is super TT dependent. Nomad is rocking the TT and a real GC contender. Mr. Nomad, I'm not a playa for the GC because of my ridiculously poor TT ability, so please take me along for a good ride in the RR

Field test this morning. That hurt.

FTP is around 315, down a little from March, but I expected that.

I kept thinking to myself that this is really a stupid sport. And that he who suffers the most just suffers the most.

Just out of curiousity, what's your target wattage when doing 2x20'? Above FTP?

C. Do some interval work
Did personal training on Tuesday + yesterday workout, riding Friday, and racing both Saturday and Sunday.
Ended up going with B but more L2/L3 riding with a buddy and did 184 Avg with norm 224. Weather turned out to be really nice yesterday after the storms. However bike got a little dirty from some extra water on the road, needs a cleaning before tomorrows race.

Need to figure out what ill be doing today, might go for a L2 with some sprints before tomorrows race.

Since Blacksburg is off, a lot of folk will be going to the Tour De Kale for a shot at some coin. Not good for me. That means I'll be waaay out of the money.

Depends on what you're trying to do, but it seems the response to your particular question is at/above FTP.

2 hours of SST today. Legs felt better after a recoveryish ride yesterday. Got some new Vittoria Rubino Pro tires yesterday. First ride on them today. I'm liking tem so far. At 13.5 hours and 226 miles for the week. My goal was 15 hours and 250 miles. Weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow. So I should be good to go!

They don’t know how, that’s why you teach them. It’s not that hard to get them to ride steady; you just need to have some leadership skills. The experienced riders set pace make the other riders adjust. If they are doing something wrong, just tell them or let them ride away (they won’t).

So if he is talking he can’t be pushing much more than endurance pace and it should have been easy enough. If he shuts up and starts to pull stupid crap a gristly master should know what to do.

Training status:

Things are going well; I have been doing 12 -14 hours/week with 3 hard workouts or races per week. Last night did 2:30 with two interval sets (4 x 4min VO2 and 3x2min AWC) and had good sensations. I’m looking forward to a 4 event stage race next weekend.

1:40 recovery today, spent figuring out how to make a derailleur hanger alignment checking tool.

Yesterday I set out to do 3 5 min intervals, killed it on the first one, and then felt too tired on the second and gave up. The two days before were both hard days (tues. 2.5 group ride, weds 40 min of SST and 5k' climbing in a 3 hour ride). But on thursday's group ride after the intervals I felt better and did ok, and even added some more at the end with one of the guys for a total of 3.3 hours and 54 miles.

The 5 min interval wound up being having a best 3 min @ 322 watts (the whole thing was 317), and the best 20 min segment (up a climb) in the group ride was 276. Monod (built into GoldenCheetah) says those mean a CP of 270, which is the highest it's ever been for me. Maybe this SST stuff is working!
