Styk33: What caused you to throw your chain? I assume you've fixed the problem now. Also, what do you use to capture your race datagrams?

Just ride.
Hey, styk, you mention that when you threw the chain, you raised your hand. Is that a signal to following riders that you're slowing way down or something?
BTW, under the circumstances, sounds like you did pretty good!

styk33: I'll bet you wouldn't have thrown the chain if you had a triple crank
(little jab for your comment about triples in another thread)

I threw the chain because I assumed the derailer stop was set properly when I bought the bike a few months ago (okay, so it was October). It was about 1.5 chain-widths off. I fixed the problem the next night and now I do not plan to have that happen again (especially at Wildflower). If I had a triple, I would not have had the problem I get laughed at enough racing a +25lb cyclocross bike though.
I was taught when you have a mechanical problem you put up your hand so others know.
I use a ciclosport 414CM to datalog my riding. It was pretty much the only computer that would download into your PC that was under $300 when I got it. I got it at performance and it has been great. You can really see what kind of riding you have been doing, rather than just guessing and taking min and max values.
I should have done better, when I saw the pack at the top of the one climb, I should have made a bigger effort to catch them. I am still learning, so I enjoyed it.
Here is a pic of me near the end of the race.
