X-Post from Road Cycling where my little dilema is rapidly descending off the page...
After taking the bike apart to clean it, and do some maintainence I went to reinstall my PowerTap Pro. I changed the cable routing, I've had it wrapped around my top tube for the last ~2000 miles/2 months. This time, I ran it under the top tube and wrapped it around the shifter cable before securing it to the stem. It didn't work - it wouldn't pick up the signal from the hub. Following the suggestion of a mechanic from the LBS I removed the cable ties securing the wire to the frame (as he'd said if they were too tight they could cause interference).
So now, the computer will read from the hub for a minute or so - and then go into HOST mode, as if I've docked it to my computer. I've checked the cable, and it isn't cut/broken. At the point where the cable goes into the head unit though, the outer black cover is partially pulled away revealing about .5mm of the inner cables, althought not down to the metal of the wires. I have the sensor (the new shark fin type) in the proper place.
What - the - heck? It's gonna make my cranky to have to possibly warranty out this nearly new product. On the other hand, it's probably not altogether bad to take a week off watching my power numbers like an addict.
