All was right in my cycling Universe today

Man what a great day for a ride, left the house at 8:15 it was 38 degrees rode 91.1 miles in 4.57 at 200w ave (3.1w/Kg) with about 4k of climbing. Did over 80% of the ride in hr zones 1-2. By the time I got home it was in the low 50's not a cloud in the sky and little or no traffic. Just a really great day on the bike!

nearly a century in under 5hrs staying mostly in zone 1 and 2, plus 4k of climbing?? that's pretty impressive for this time of year. it took me almost 5 hours to get out of bed this morning.

Gotta keep in mind that my first A race is Feb 2 so I'm a little ahead of where most of ya'll are now. I'm happy with the numbers but to be honest it was just a great day to ride a bike. No wind, blue sky's, no traffic and perfect temps.

blah blah blah...

the rain that kicked in last night, stayed for a bit today, but it didn't really matter.

for some reason my rear brakes are F'ed up (new blocks, or maybe the wheels, no idea, and typical - my LBS was shut today, and I have no tools where I am, and didn't really fancy a long ride in southern new england with only a front brake. )

at least someone got a good ride in today.

Yeah I'm lucky I've got two teammates who are on about the same schedule or I'd be riding alone most of the time. My season is pretty much over by May. I do one race over the summer, the State TT's and this year I'll do a couple in the fall then some cross. My last field test was on 2w less than my peak from last year and I raised my LTHR by 3bpm and I don't feel like I'm anywhere near my peak. Things are looking good for the start of the season!

I used to race cars in the middle of July in 100 degree temps in Cali but the humidity is a killer for me. Besides we race nearly every weekend from the end of Jan through May with my three favorite races in the time span.

i understand why you don't race after may, but it still sucks. guess i'm just lazy - i need the racing to keep me training.

Sounds like you'll be on form for February.

Your season ends in May, and mine starts in May this year (Knee Surgery = Suck). When do you guys start 'cross down there?

We start our cross season in November. This year it really blew up, there were some really big turnouts for the cross races this year. In the fall we have some big races, the age based state RR championships and the AMLI Crit which had about 10k spectators this year.

the reason I went out on the mountain bike instead. Really sucks when you get to the top of jumbo grade, turn around to go back down and still have to pedal the whole way
