Racing In Colorado (?)

Question for people in or near Colorado.

Are there road races in the mountains (USCF?) that are held each year.

I am interested in taking a racing vacation and would love to race up a mountain to see what it's like.

Well the USCF race clanedar for 2007 is not updated as of today. Here http://www.usacycling.org/events/ind...oad&fyear=2006 is what they did in 2006 in Colorado. There is another racing orgainization in Colorado, the American Cycling Association. I have their proposed schedule in excel format. If you IM me I can email it to you if you want. ACA does indeed sanction "races in the mountains." This year it looks like five hill climbs (including the Bob Cook Memorial -one of the toughest and most famous in the states) and 6-7 hilly to mountainous road races. Their site is here http://www.americancycling.org/. If you are a USCF racer, you can race in an ACA race in your category on a "one day" license (if you don't want to join the ACA for the whole year). If you are not a USCF racer, you can still race ACA on a one day at Cat 4 level (or higher if you can provide a "resume"). If you want a lot of climbing in a beautiful setting come to Wyoming and race the Dead Dog Classic.

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep my eye on updates from the website. Would love to give Bob Cook a try.

Be sure to register as soon as possible. It fills up pretty fast. Maybe I'll see you down there (as an official).
