Races in VA/MD/DC on Feb 17-18?

Well, since the good Doctor is ignoring my PM, I thought I'd ask the group at large.

Are there any crits or road races in the VA/MD/DC area on Saturday or Sunday February 17-18th? I'll be up there visiting the wife's family and would love to have something else to do to justify the trip

Sorry zimbo--I got that at work and totally forgot to answer!

The race bdcheung mentioned is the Tradezone crit in MD, near Andrews AFB. The flyer is up for the '06 series, but the first race will be on the 18th this year.

As others have mentioned, the tradezone training series is kicking off on 2/18. If that doesnt fit your schedule, the link below has a couple great rides listed. I hit the 7:00 a.m. on non-race weekends during the summer, when the right group shows up, which is often, it's as hard in spots as any race I do. This time of year, the ride stays a bit mellower, but is still full of testosterone on the climbs - it does regroup though so not much of a worry about getting stranded.

those quicksilver races are going to be such a mess for me. I work 6am to 6pm on saturdays so I am going to have to take a 2 hour lunch break in order to race. I cant wait.

Yup. Tradezone is the opener, and Quicksilver starts the week after.

Awesome, I didn't realize Tradezone was starting so soon. I'll definitely be there in the B race.

Hey, it's all good. If last fall's Greenbelt race was any indication it won't be hard for you to get into form. Let me know if you want to ride sometime, otherwise come on down to the 9AM sunday ride from Capitol Hill if you can make it...

And FWIW, Tradezone races are on Sundays, though they're probably a little further away for you.

the tradezone races are fine. They must be near where that turkey day race was last year. Distance is no big deal. the quicksilver races arent any closer. it just happens that I work right down the road.

I may try to get down to that 9am ride this week. Do you have more details?

Are you working 9-5 these days? Im off sunday - wednesday if you ever want to go on a ride those days.

The ride starts at 9AM from Capitol Hill Bikes, at 8th and G SE (Barracks Row). The usual ride is across the mall, through Georgetown, and up to bethesda via MacArthur Blvd/Goldsboro Rd. Then we head back into downtown via Beach Dr. and usually finish up with some laps around Hains Point. We're definitely at a more "base" pace right now. We've also been doing some random variations to the route as the mood and weather strike us...

The following Sunday is our 2nd practice TT, a short uphill TT. Good for gauging improvement as we'll have another TT on the same course in April (4/8).

I tend to be at work until mid-afternoon, but maybe we could hook up some laps at Hains Point one afternoon with a little advance planning, because I work in the city.

I definitely ride hains point from time to time on weekdays so just let me know when you are going to be there.
