During college I used to live with a guy for a year (09-10) who had the exact same frame (size too) and everything except different wheels (ksyriums)

He is now a cat 1 and Men's A intercollegiate racer. He moved to Colorado to attend Ft. Collins and do some elite lvl intercollegiate racing. I used to do intervals with him on flat roads and camp his wheel; it was probably a harder workout for me.

I give him a 50% chance of going pro or starting a long term career when he graduates.

Long story short: You can go far with that bike.

Just bought this.

Really does live up to the hype. Should carry me through the Cat 5s just fine.

Shop owner gave me a deal on some DT Swiss r1700s to replace the stock wheels. Does anyone ride or know much about the r1700s? I couldn't find too much on them.

Haha way cool, makes me feel better about not planning on upgrading anything for a long time!

It's a pretty great bike for sure. The geometry isn't especially well suited to me but I make do just fine. Here's a quick pic after yesterday's muddy ride, will post a proper shot once I get my new bars and groupset installed.

Harlan 03-14-11 10:22 AM

Why not a proper shot now? What are you running? Is that the updated fork? Funny, we have the same shoes and gps also.

TMonk 03-14-11 10:28 AM

Whats wrong with the geo?

Harlan 03-14-11 10:39 AM

That too. I thought 73 square was pretty standard.

I don't have one! Maybe I'll snap a pic tonight. That fork is just a replacement because the original one got smashed in a crash.

Re: geometry - I just find I feel stretched out (my torso is somewhat short relative to my limbs). I've always felt more comfortable on track frames with shorter top tubes and steeper geometry than any road bike. I am getting used to this one though.

Yikes. Was that a head on crash? Is the frame simply too big? Your stem looks to be around 100-110mm in the first photo.

It was indeed a head on crash.

The frame isn't too big, but it's possible that I was always riding frames that were too small before. That's a 100mm in the shot, there's a 110mm now and I'm thinking of trying a 120mm soon. Also it's possible that my flexibility was **** before and now I'm getting to where I'm more comfortable in a low position.

Sorry, not available. ;)

Caloso, did you change handlebars? I can't get a flat transition from the bar to the hoods on my current set up (ritchey classic shallow).

PS. Gorgeous looking bike.

PPS. Nvmd. Just found my post regarding handlebars (from 08/2010), and the picture hasn't changed.

Hardly race rig porn but this is what I will most likely be racing all this year. Nothing fancy, but I built it as a general purpose mule that I can turn to no matter what shape my other bikes may be in.

Yeah, that's my fave colour scheme. Except for maybe the current S3's, really dig those.

This is maybe my favourite bike I've seen in this thread. Perfecto!

Agreed, I like that one a lot. BMC + Edge + Red = awesome.

They are both S-WORKS, which one? Not that it matters since neither are currently for sale, at the end of the season the Tarmac SL3 will be for sale once the new team bikes are delivered.
