thanks, I might have to try some new tactics then. I used to have a 808 tubular but I sold it with my old bike and got new 404s for the new bike. I've been thinking of getting an extra front wheel, do you think I should go for an 808 or is there any other option that is better? I'm not scared of running high profiles in crosswinds btw.
i own an 808 and tri-spoke; i basically never ride the 808.
i have no problems riding deep wheels in wind, but the 808 front can be a real handful in gusty conditions. i've raced the tri-spoke without issue in conditions with average winds of 35 mph and higher gusts (gila time trial, silver city, new mexico). thought i knew wind until i raced down there. Ex has had some windier experiences there, too. i recommend running <=700x20 for the tri-spoke. for tires >=700x23, the zipps might be a better choice.
the faster you go, the better the tri-spoke is.

if we take handling out of the picture, the 808 will be faster than the 404. if you are willing to run narrower tires and able to find them (fast ones!), a tri-spoke can be very fast.

I see you're almost in compiance with the new UCI regulations. However, that front wheel looks a little small. The top tube is not level. And, those triathlon bars will have to go. But, otherwise you're getting close to passing technical.

Nice... This has got to be quite a few years newer (90s?), I think its an 8 speed Dura Ace. I'm not sure where my dad got ahold of this thing.

Am I crazy, or is the saddle on your Fuji about 20 degrees nose down? Based on the sora shifters, I think it's safe to say you chose to invest in your TT'ing rather than crits

Well, here's my "race" bike, even though I don't race (yet)... just gotta get the wifey on board with that one. Oh yeah, the Force front derailleur is a piece of rubbish.
