I'm a bit stretched out when I'm on it. Tried a smaller frame on Sunday and it felt great. I was able to get much lower than my current setup allows. I could modify this bike by throwing a 90mm stem, pushing the saddle forward, and dropping the stem height 3cm to achieve the same postion. But, I'm using it as an excuse to get new bike...

It's not that tall. 20cm head tube on a 60.5cm top tube. I've got about 2 or 3cm of spacers under the stem.

Got it. You're one of those guys with long legs, unlike me

And I'm a fan of the rotating forward thing with position.

That's what I've been told. 75 inches in height and 36 inch inseam...seems a bit more middle of the road than long or short legged to me though.

Yeah, fit is the most important thing.

My statement is more about the balance look. I have a hard time with the geometry of bigger frames. I moved down to a 59cm top tube and run a flat 14mm stem. I like the tighter geometry to keep the flex down. My Fuji's top tube is 18cm. I've got 2cm under it between a spacer and the headset. I wish the head tube was lower and I could run a 6° stem (more direct path to the bars means less flex). I guess I could look into a low profile headset and use that 2cm to change to a 15cm 6° stem -- maybe when it's time to replace the headset.

The more you dig into it its amazing how many different setups you can get away with on one bike, let alone several different frames. I'm probably going to move down to a 58cm tt with 18cm head tube frame.

Send me a pic and height as well as current frame size, I can give an honest opinion.

If you push the saddle forward wouldn't you be able to use a longer stem, i.e. keep the stem that you have now? Just drop it a bit? Meaning the length would be effectively shorter because the saddle is closer. You'd be rotating forward around the BB.

I don't want to stand in between you and a new bike but that was a thought I had because that's basically how I fit my bike.

I can and I do have a couple of cm's left on the saddle in terms of play forward. I may tinker in the interim while I figure out potential replacements.

When I experimented with fit for the custom frames I got I used non-bike things as substitutes for bars - plastic totes next to the bike when it was on a trainer. I'd just slide my hand forward more (for me), pretending the tote was the bar. I'd use books and such to "raise the bar". When I had an idea of what I wanted I went to the LBS and borrowed their fit bike, put in my numbers, and voila, that's how I decided what to order.

There was no way I'd find a 17 or 18 cm stem which is effectively what I was looking at.

For head tube height I just asked for "as short as possible", but that's me.

Oh, sure, you'll just look at photos of anyone on a bike. Why don't you ask for photos of everyone on the forum. Here, I'll start a thread in the 41. Are you happy? Are you?!

My team bike for this year - 2012 Giant TCR Advanced SL with Ultegra 6700. For now will be running Zipp 404 tubies for racing (may change if we can land a wheel sponsor). Don't hate on the yellow tape - its one of our team colors

That foil is nice!

What's your tire/valve position, the suggested psi for the tire?

Finally finished with my TT bike

it took two drillings through the stem to route the front housing. a 7 hour process

Still taped down. Probably will use a double sided tape soon enough

I do eat quite a lot of them, but those boxes are actually from moving (my present situation is extended temporary as i'll be leaving the apt in 3 years max)
