somebody complained about something which brought the sheriff out. The sheriff asked to see the permit. The permit states something broad like the inside line is closed. The sheriff sees that both inside lanes are blocked off and decides that only a single lane can be used. The race official says the race is cancelled because the uscf wouldnt approve the course for a single lane.

I don't even have words to describe the stupidity. I mean, this course is a 1.2 mile loop in an industrial park in the middle of Nowhere, VA on a Saturday morning. Anyone driving around the area could have gotten anywhere they needed to by reversing their direction and spending an extra 45 seconds getting to their destination. Ridiculous.

This event has been going on for a while in the area, so I'm a little surprised that there would be that kind of "oops" on the permit. I'll be sticking with the Tradezone series from here on out.

The real highlight for me is that I started the day arguing with the Mrs., drove my a$$ out to the race to find out it was cancelled, and then got a call from my lawyer on my way home that I need to go to court in the next week or two because I'm being sued for $1,000,000 over a fender bender that happened over 2 years ago and did $700 damage to the plaintiff's car, and my insurance company couldn't reach a settlement.

Yay.

sounds lke you need to sue your lawyer for malpractice (this coming from the son of a lawyer, and the brother of two lawyers).

We'll be submitting a new VDOT permit on Monday addressing said

Well, just to vent a little frustration, I went out and did a couple sprints and a new 5-minute power test just to play with the new Powertap. I guess the anger was good for me because I set new highs for 5-second and 5-minute power, at 1163 and 375. Last time I tested was with the Polar, and my 5-minute power was 371. Apparently many folks see a drop when switching from Polar to PT, so either I was a remarkably skilled installer of my Polar power meter or my 5-minute power has come up a fair amount.

The rest of the ride was spent enjoying the scenery. My training schedule called for some very involved intervals, but it was just too nice a day for all that.
