Quick stupid powertap SL question, 2.21 firmware

How do I tell my powertap that I want to start a new ride without using "--Clr--"? Yesterday I went out for a ride and when I started to ride it began adding to the elapsed time of the previous day's ride.

How do I tell the PT that I'm starting a new ride? I'm leaving for a race in 20 minutes, so quick replies are appreciated!

You have to either (A) Download this current ride or (B) after you get home tonight you can separate the rides by time, either in Excel (then save each file as a separate file) or in cycling peaks or use the power tap software. Unfortunately there is no way to do this in the computer itself

Well that's interesting/lame... I already downloaded the last ride so I should be set.

Why would CycleOps put all that effort into adding memory to the Powertap if you can only carry one file at a time? Oh well...

Thanks for the info--Guess I wasn't actually missing something.

If you've already downloaded the ride..... why don't you want to clear it?

If in doubt, I just toss in a new interval and switch to interval mode to view just that segment. I dload/clear every day though, so I usually only do the interval thing for actual intervals or for things like today where I rode to the LBS, then started the group ride from there and wanted to see just the group ride time/distance.

I feel your pain. You aren't used to the (ride-download-ananlyze like a weenie-erase-repeat) routine yet, but I promise it will irk you less after about a month.

Only time it really sucks is when you go out of town to ride / race for more than one day and either don't have a laptop or forget yours.

To switch to interval mode, just press select/mode for a second or two until you see the interval number pop up.

The interval number will flash, then disappear.

Then just hold down mode until you see the interval number stay.

Cycling peaks will recognize your saved interval data when you download it.

    Good luck at the races

So I fired off the interval marker, but couldn't figure out how to get into interval mode until I got home after the race and read the manual again.

Now the question is this: Is there some way to just start the ride with interval information in the foreground? That is to say, is there some way to set up the PT so that when I mark an interval it displays the info specific to the interval (elapsed time, avg. power, etc.)?

Do what I said in the post right above yours, and it does that.

Once you've told it to start an interval, just hold down mode until the interval number stays put on the screen.

Hold down the left button until you go into interval view mode. Quickly click both buttons to start a new interval. Don't DON'T DON'T hold both buttons down to start a new interval, of course. Unless you're an idiot like me.

If you do this then quickly hold them both down again until it goes into setup mode. Once it does just exit it. Not that it has ever happened to me.
