Video interview with the Ben Jacques-Maynes
Before his big NRC stage race win at the Central Valley Classic this past weekend, I recorded a video interview with Ben Jacques-Maynes. UCI Continental ("division 3") guys don't get mentioned often in this forum but Ben is as professional as any guy out there and maybe more so. He showed what a quality bike racer is on and off the bike at the Tour of California.

He is also a Slug alumni. I bask in associated glory.
Not too surprising he did well, considering the work he did at the ToC. That level of racing against the top international pros will help you out when it comes to other domestic stage races.

The interview about the ToC leader's jersey controversy is interesting. You can really tell it bothers him. But he's very diplomatic about the whole thing, and really seems to avoid saying what is on his mind. It's pretty obvious, though.

Yeah but he's smart to keep his thoughts to himself. Nothing he would have said there could possibly change anything. I also liked when he talked about winning local races and splitting with a team to end up with $7.50

Very cool, thanks for putting that together and sharing. Ben seems like a pretty cool guy. One of his teamates lives near me and rides with us during nov-dec on some of our winter training rides. He is very cool as well. Down to earth and very approachable. I hope that team does well this year.

Thanks for the feedback. Ben's a good guy alright. By the way, in one of the clips we discussed the U.S. Open and Tour de Georgia troubles. It looks like both events are on for sure this April despite the lack of title sponsors.
