OK you racing maniacs, why should I get a System Six

I can do some wheeling/dealing and replace that old Ibis with a System Six. As many of you know I'm quite happy with the Six13. But the System Six intrigues me. The Scott Addict is lighter, but I'm loving the feel of the Cdale rear aluminum triangle. I think that's the ticket on these bikes. They feel lively and comfortable. Actually after a year of riding both back to back, I prefer the Six13 to the Ibis.

I would buy the Ultegra (cringe) equipped System Six, sell all the parts and wheels and then sell the Ibis frame/fork and a set of Kysyrium SL wheels I don't need. The whole deal would cost me about $1200-$1400 when it's said and done and I'll have a System Six with full D.A. and Mavic K. ES wheels in addition to a similarly equipped Six13.

Opine on aforementioned gearhead scenario you hopelessly obsessed racer/gear lunatics. Please note never used the word 'weenies' - which required more willpower than yesterday's hill repeats.

By the way, on today's recovery ride I was able to generally keep my HR under 140, I only saw 150 at one point coming up my hill, and then only briefly. I hope that's sufficiently relaxed to allow for recovery (30 miles, never felt lactic burn in my legs either).

Yeah, hate to sound like a broken record, but a PM would serve you better.

    Say it with me now:

"I want a pair of Zipp 404's with a Powertap hub, please."

Your six13 is still new (what is it, the 3rd warranty replacement?).

Your Ibis is your winter bike, right?

I'd hold off a little. I can understand the interest. Hell, I wouldn't mind one, but I think I'd like an ISP TCR advanced first.

Anyway, the point is that your six13 is still fresh, and you like it, and the project6 isn't going anywhere soon.

spend the money on other toys - like a PT or SRM - but then again, if the money is burning a hole in your pocket, go for it.

How's that for sitting on a carbon fiber fence?

The only reason to buy a bike above a CAAD8 (the perfect race bike) is because you want it. I'm firm believer in this, if you want it and can afford it get it. Besides you are old and you don't have many days left on the bike, you might as well ride the bike of your dreams

I try to keep my HR in the 115-130 bpm range (obviously, it'll spike a little on hills) for my recovery rides....

And there's nothing wrong with Ultegra.

I am the OMG poseur on that ride silly Willy. Thank God it's too far for you to come out. Then I'd have to chase YOUR fast Westwood ass. There are ENOUGH of those guys. I WAS planning on going to Branchbrook tomorrow before the Blizzard of '07 hunkered down over the NY Metro area. Right now my Hudson Valley house looks like a scene from 'The Shining', but with high speed cable, DirecTV and a Golden Retriever.

I really hope to meet you @ Branchbrook, maybe NEXT Saturday. I'll just ask for 'the guy who wins every weekend' and I'm sure they'll point you out.

Maybe someday when I actually get fast and am not fat anymore, I'll have to come over to Nyack.

If you show up and say 3 or 4 'hail Shimanos' in penance for your Ultegra (cringe) blasphemy we will welcome you on the Nyack ride. Once I clear it with the Nyack College of Cardinals of course.

If my resting HR is 53bpm sitting here typing this, does that make it about 45 or so using that take your HR when you wake up in the morning test?

    hills are different.

what i meant was that he should try and keep his HR lower than 115-130 on a recovery ride. I try and keep mine below 120, and usually stick to 105-110.
