Saw that myself, and having done that myself in December and separating a shoulder... I can say...

"aiyah...oh no..."

Just to prove I once turned pedals in anger (photo is from 1994). Decided with two laps to go it was now or never to reel in the 3-man breakaway. Thought somebody would go with me. Incorrect.

But I held on for 4th place. And I do have the .49 trophy to prove it.

If I sometimes come across as impatient and cranky with some of this stuff, it's because I have been doing this for a while. Note the vintage Time shoes in the photo from the Lemond era. And that's state-of-the-art Dura Ace EIGHT speed boys. And coming from the downtube shifter days, we were damn happy to have it, believe me.

Yes, I've been getting dropped/humiiated since Penguin was watching Sesame Street I'm afraid. USCF member (on and off) since 1993. But not on the day in the photo. One from the Every Dog Has His Day dept.

Did I mention the 80 mile training rides in the snow we used to do, uphill both ways?

Last crit I did I actually won a gift certificate for a free haircut. I think everyone decided that I needed it most and sat up so I could take it. :D

That was my problem in my first, second, and maybe third races.

At our last team meeting we had a cycling coach come in to chat us up, at one point he was talking about the guy that took 2nd place on the San Bruno hill climb and how talented he is. I mentioned that I knew (well kinda :p ) the guy who whooped him up the hill for the win...i was thinking PIZZA MAN! YOUR FAMOUS...the coach agreed you came out of nowhere LoL

You could have a faster TT if you cut the Crusty The Clown wings off.

How about suffering after a race?

Stallionforce 03-23-07 08:30 PM

It's the tongue. My preferred sprinting technique, I guess. Got 6th in this race, a club race, against 1/2's. The 5th place guy is a National Team rider. The guy who won just came back from the Pan Am Games with a Gold Medal. Tough field.

trust me; I have no upper body. those are the stragglers at home stretch, you can see the finish line a few meters from where I lay—this is the aftermath of a pack finish of over 80 cat 4/5 racers.

carlfreddy 03-24-07 04:55 PM

This is from my first race ever.

I'm hoping to have a picture of me in the pack before the season is over!
