Because women are weird?

There are some pretty serious photos in this thread (and some not so serious ones too). Just wow.

At last week's training race I had been dangling off the front alone about a minute or two. I was about to call it quits when a Setanta rider joined me and I had to dig a little more to stay on his wheel. Soon after I think the sprinters sent their men out to bring us back.

The upside is that nobody wants to crash, as it's been designated an EPA superfund site. Getting toxic waste out of road rash is a b*tch.

Floyd Bennett Field (sp?) in Brooklyn i think. It used to be used for military purposes of some sort.

Because she has nothing interesting to talk about?

I was in the same race, and had a few moments of suffering as well (me in green).

Floyd Bennett Field was the first commercial airfield in New York City. Quite historic. Many famous flights originated and terminated there, including record-setting flights by the likes of Howard Hughes and Amelia Earhart.

Made me think of this thread:

It's nowhere near as bad as it looked.

word of advice - avoid wearing assos in cat 4/5 races.

ElJamoquio 05-18-08 07:06 AM

I always wear my old UNO's for the reasons you're thinking of. If you saw my really-bottom-of-the-barrel bibs, you'd understand.

caloso 05-18-08 01:40 PM

Here's one of me at yesterday's Modesto Crit 4/5. I'm the guy on the front with the red and white jersey with his elbows too straight.

makes me think of a guy at yesterdays race.

strong as an ox, but thick as a stump. spent the entire race on the hoods, elbows were never bent, and he kept looking backwards, even when we were strung out.

needless to say i yelled at him. a lot.

patentcad 05-18-08 02:03 PM

Now you know why Pcad won't do Floyd Bennett Field races. Besides the fact that it's actually faster for me to fly to Chicago from here than drive to a race @ FBF.

Wheels on Willy Crit - 5/18/08 - on the front of a group trying to get back onto the field (ok maybe in a dream)..

The white kit in action yesterday. I'd been marking College (in front of me) a bit at this point. My turn to pull is coming soon...

Fixed for you. I'm not usually one to correct spelling, but this one left me confused for a bit...

waterrockets 05-19-08 02:28 PM

:roflmao: his Nickname is "College" because he played college basketball. All of Lance's friends get a nickname, I think. Maybe one day I'll get to know him and he'll call me Oreo.

I think Buford suits you better.

substructure 05-19-08 02:37 PM

My brother's nickname is Oreo.
And not because he likes the cookies.

waterrockets 05-19-08 02:51 PM

Buford... hmmm. If we change it to Beauford, then it can be a double-entendre, as that's also a local hill that most cyclists avoid (sick steep, and REALLY rough grooved surface). It's one of my favorites... I'm not fast on it, but I love climbing and descending it.

Sub: yeah, that's why I was thinking Oreo would be kinda funny.
