M35+ Cat 4/5

That's me on the front in the red/black kit. 3 man break, we got caught with 2 to go, managed to recover and get back to the head of the race. Took 3d.

Wet hairpin at Rancho. Surprisingly, none of the 6 crashes in that race occurred there.

Holy crap you're cut. Weight to trim? Just stop, I dunno, lifting or something. I don't see any fat there.

+1

That's like my saying that I need to cut 20 lbs and get down to 120 lbs!

yah. I'm talking about losing some upper body muscle. 195 pounds aint quite mountain goat territory.
I agree, not much fat to trim. Thanks, guys. (I'm not trying to complain, either. Bike racing is a weird sport, though...)

Winning the 3/4 crit, 50m from the line, checking under my arm to make sure those guys are as far back as they look. This was a 52s solo effort, and hurt just as much as any WRI™ I've ever done

Thanks, I'm happy to see some success on such a sparse schedule. I wish I could race more.

Doing just about all of the work in the 5 man break.
It wore me out for the close sprint, where I still managed a 4th place.

Rain stopped, but still wet:

Rounding the last corner, on the attack (note 2nd place, who was on a solo flyer, is trying to stay on my wheel, hidden behind me):

you do realize that racing in white bibs in the rain merits a DQ, according to USAC rules, right?

It hadn't rained here in about 6 weeks. It rained for 15 minutes right before the crit, and hasn't rained since. Ugh. Next year I'm buying the black kit

I'm just happy that the remaining 22 Cat 3s who could finish were able to get such a great view of me crossing the line, with that added DQ bonus.

Yeah, I won a set of tires as part of the prizes, and I initially thought they were tubulars, so our shop owner was telling me that this would be a great time for me to get a $2000 wheelset. I said, "Yeah, no kidding. Then I might start winning."

Congrats on the win!

I had originally planned on coming down to Austin for the races this past weekend, but decided to stay at home for the state TT

He was probably trying to hit me with something for wearing the white kit.

Steel frame, traditional geometry, 32 spoke wheels? Obviously a Photoshop hoax.
