Collegiate racing gives upgrade points for well-timed stunt riding, obviously. He got the B to A bump based on this sweet front flip.

the VT guy with green helmet and pink bike accents look familiar. If that's whom i think it is, this better be the A field, otherwise the VT guy oughtta upgrade. I was in the winning break with him 4 weeks back and he was incredibly strong.

btw, are you guys going to Penn State or your own conference finals?

I wouldn't say I look like I'm "suffering" but I promise you I was.

This was the B field, there is an incredibly strong VT rider in the A field but AFAIK the App State guys won the A RR and crit. This past weekend was actually the ACCC conference championships at Duke, so our season is over and our team doesn't have anyone going to nationals because our only A rider is focusing on racing with Celerity and only did a couple ACCC weekends.

What did you think of the courses?

I did not race on Sunday but my wife did. It was the largest women's field I have ever seen, granted it was a combined collegiate b/c and cat 4, but it was still huge.

I liked the Saturday RR course, it only had a couple pitches that caused big yo yos in the field and the race ended on the climb in the picture of mu teammate crashing, which was maybe 8% for a bit and let me get past a few of the weaker riders at the line. I was in the C field, FWIW, so we did 3 laps of the course. The TTT went out and back on the same route for 8.6 miles, I had no C teammates so I pulled the two D riders the entire way but still ended up 4th, our B guys crushed it and won, they'd have placed 3rd in A.

The crit on Sunday was a simple 2 city block rectangle, it wasn't too exciting but we did have a strong wind which hurt me when I got separated midway through. The pace car was a Ferrari, which apparently a lot of people found to be exciting. I saw the women's P1/2/3 field racing with the As, I was wondering whether the A girls beat the pro/1 ladies...

Ferraris are more exciting than collegiate racing.

A Scion racing a Saturn wagon is more exciting than any level of amateur USAC event, so there's that.

I passed a kid in a Duquesne Cycling jersey on my way back from lunch today. Is there a race in the area this weekend?

What I get for leading everyone out by jumping early.. 1 point and 5th place. Dammit.

Had I adjusted my derailleur pre-race I coulda found that 12-tooth and maybe held them off.

Third guy back is a bit sketchy. Watch for him. He has a habit of swerving clear across the field. Almost caused a few accidents in earlier seasons crits.
