ToWC RR - i'm the one grimacing in the black kit... The race was harder than it should've been for myself since I did a tough crit the night before and staged poorly for the race (it was advertised as a rolling full road enclosure then it changed to yellow line after we staged).

Is the white thing on your housing a chip? I see one on the rider behind you.

Yes. That's new this year. One on the helmet and one on the brake housing. Two advantages from a rider's perspective: 1) only need to check in once on the first day and 2) lapped riders would only be pulled for safety reasons rather than placing reasons. And as far as I know, no one got pulled.

Tire pit was unique for the race. The course was an out and back on a road with a median with landscaping. The tire pit was a few hundred meters from the start finish, in the median, in shrubs, and unattended by officials.

I forgot about that. I think they put it so far away because of the risk of tripping the lap counter mulitple times if the pit was near start/finish as customary.

Making a kilometer blurry
All out, bridging up to an attack on Thursday. Kudos to Jim Hicks for the great shot -- I'll probably be buying this one (no thumbnail or copyright reasons).

Shelled race. Photo by Mike H, in the white helmet. Okay, so he didn't take it, but he posted it, his friend took it. I think 1/3 of the field is visible in this picture, and I was gone shortly after.

My arms are too straight. Photo taken by my wife. Not wearing sunglasses because it's a night time crit. I need cycling glasses.

I treated myself to a nice set of Smiths with changeable lenses that I like a lot. I've also used Pyramex clear safety glasses, available at your LHWS (local hardware store).

The report is in the old folk's home. Popped tendon in my left ring finger, pulled groin. Shut down for riding for a few days. No racing until the splint comes off. Cracked rear 404, broken Toupe Pro, hoods and tape. It was a racing accident. No blame on myself or anyone else. I'm just pissed about the 404.
You can see why my groin is pulled as I'm still clipped in. It all happened so fast.

I just realized that based on the other riders who are unclipping (still crashing?) you were traveling from the right to the left, or rather from the top of the picture out to the left. The way you fell it looked like you were traveling left to right.
At least your tires are on 100%. That lever looks a bit crooked though. I hope you heal quick, remember the tip about the tendon (don't let anyone bend the finger, you hold the base of the finger and you bend the knuckle of the affected tendon/joint using the muscle of the finger), and I have that stem in the car.
I guess my poison ivy isn't a big deal compared to hitting the deck.

Shovelhd, even though we can't see your face, that photo definitely has more suffering in it than any of these lamer hill climb grimace photos!
