That's cool. Although the middle of the group was a rough place to be in this race - there must have been at least three crashes, one of which went down right in front of me on the second lap. I think it was an NCSU guy, wasn't it? Anyway, I'm hoping not to just be pack fodder at West Virginia this weekend : P.

West Virginia is SUCH a long drive for us, but I'm going anyway. I figure a lot of teams won't show up, so maybe I can do half decent. It also kinda looks like a fun course, now that I'm losing weight/gaining power I'm starting to enjoy hills a little more, although the small guys still kill me.

Congrats on the strong finish! Looks like a good move up the outside. That's a great first race.
Now... sprint from the drops. Always. Never again from the hoods. Practice this often. Depending on how long the sprint was, it probably made the difference between 1st and 2nd...

Rookie mistake. And noted; not to happen again.

Can I ask a noob question about sprinting from the hoods? Why not sprint from there? I seem to have more power from the hoods than the drops (due to my not-too-flexible hamstrings). Maybe I've been doing it wrong for the last 2 years!

The hands are one of the few places that will stop you from riding if you injure them by getting road rash or cutting them up in a fall.

My Fiance took it, I messed up in the TT and was in 47th place, I wanted to make up time/spots in the races, I wanted a podium real bad. When I saw the pic, I was shocked to see that I really am not cool looking when suffering like that, lol. It looks like my glasses are going to fall off and I have lockjaw or something-I looked a lot better on the podium a few minutes later.
