Road shoes ?

I'm in the market for new racing shoes, what do folks out there use? I've been on Sidi Genius for about 4 years, they're in need of replacement. Despite all the rave reviews on Sidis, I was just lukewarm on them.

Brand?
Model?
Carbon Fiber Sole?
Color?

switched to shimano r215s last spring. like 'em a lot. picked up a pair of r151s (very cheap) as back ups.

I use Sidi Genius 5.5 HT Carbon shoes, in black. Very comfortable and light.

But since you're off the Sidi bandwagon, I'd also recommend you look at Specialized Pro Carbon shoes. They were my previous pair of shoes, and I never had a problem with them. Though I eventually ditched them in favor of the Sidi's, as the fit on the Sidi's was much better.

Whatever you choose, try them on first.

Carbon sole is really comfortable. I'm not particualrly fond of my Nike carbons, but the sole is so comfortable that I deal with the rest of the lameness just for the soles. I got the shoes free for a coaching gig -- I'd buy Sidis with my own money

I have some non-carbon Genius IIs that are super comfortable, but the soles wrap around the cleats ever so slightly -- it's enough to make me prefer the inferior Nikes.

I picked up a set of DMT mag lights:

really comfy and super light(1/2lb lighter than my old shoes) the sole is mag and threaded so it is super thin and a very low stack height for you cleats which provides a nicer feel, like the pedal is part of your shoe not under it. The only down side to report is on rough roads for extended periods the metal sole transmits more vibration.

SH-R215
Yes
All silver

I have been very happy with them.
The 07 model is silver and blue. I like the all silver better.

Sidi Genius 5.5 Carbon - Very nice. Stiff and comfortable

DMT Kyoma - 100g lighter than SIDI's. I use them for hilly races. Very stiff, but definitely not as comfortable as the SIDI's. Probably not worth the weight savings.

I think it would be helpful to know what about the Sidi's you didn't like.

Not didnt/dont like, I'm just not a sidi zealot as much as alot of folks are. But, my feet fatigue and hurt, inner side - just forward of the arches. I've pretty flat feet though, and this is common for me in other applications like ski boots, sometimes even regular shoes.

Diadora Pro Racer Carbon.

Used to ride Diadoras then went to Sidi. Ended up hating the fit of the Sidis and bought a pair of the Pro Racers. Carbon and white leather. Bling heaven.

Just ordered some Shimano R300's. I find that I have a wide foot and narrow heel, so the regular R215's/151's slipped while riding. I am wearing Diadora's right now, but they are getting harder to find, and they changed them to where they don't quite fit the same. After trying about 13 brands of shoes, I settled on the Shimanos.

You might consider some custom foot beds. I've know a couple of guys who had chronic problems with their shoes and the foot beds solved it for them.

Good thought, but custom foot beds just arent a sexy enough solution for me, this 30-something suburban guy needs bling.

Then buy the most 'blinged' out pair of shoes you can find and get the foot beds. The best of both worlds.

I was looking at the black today and they look pretty sweet as well. If you of went with the white not only would you have been a gangsta, you would be a PIMP as well!

Either way they are awesome shoes

After I dropped $300 on my 6.6's the team decided to they would all go out and get the Ergo 2's with a huge discount, something like $200.
