Out-of-saddle bruises

I've got bruises on the inside of my legs, right above the knees, from my top tube making contact (not really hitting with any painful force) with my legs. This only happens when I'm climbing out of the saddle (i.e. not when I sprint). Am I doing something wrong, or is this to be expected?

depends.

it's happened to me once or twice.

ullrich was so worried about banging his knee against the tt of his tcr, that giant made a custom one for him, with a slightly thinner tt.

It's nothing to worry over, is it? Like, I won't become paralyzed 20 years from now because I tapped my TT?

I'm thick legged, and do make contact at times with the top tube when out of the saddle climbing. I dont notice it until this time of year when the knee warmers come off (unfortunately, the weather forecast looks like they need to go back on for the next couple weeks).

I think there are studies that show a direct correlation between knee knocking your top tube during out of the saddle climbing and paralysis 20 years in the future, so be careful.
