Anyone racing Sugar Grove, Ohio tomorrow?

Just wondering if anyone is planning on racing Sugar Grove tomorrow. I'm in the process of digging out all of my winter clothes again. It's going to be freaking cold!!!

Our team was planning on it but guys started dropping out until there were only two of us left so we decided to bag it and do a long training ride early so everyone could get to their family commitments.
Good luck tomorrow. I did this race last year and it's a great course. The hill sneaks up on you the first time you approach it because the approach is a combination of rollers and false flats. If you're on the front or working too hard in this section you'll hit the hill with your heart rate too high and you'll be in trouble. (I speak from direct experience.) Also, when you see the steep part of the hill that turns to the right at the top, there is more, so have some gas left. After the hill, there's a technical fast downhill. The locals will bomb this because they know it well. Be ready to follow their lines.

Good luck!

Dang, sorry to hear that fly. I hope LowCel didn't drive too far only to get skunked again.

Do you consider 110 miles and setting in the parking lot too far?

What really sucks is that mountain bike season starts next weekend. I'm not sure when my next road race will be.

Bummer.
We'll miss you at Deer Creek and Vandevoorts. You should come down for Rabbit Hash. It's a hill climbing fest so you will feel right at home.

i called the jym guy at around 10:30 (actually my mom called him) and he said it was on, but might get cancelled. we called back at around 11:00 and he said he was riding the course. when 11:30 rolled around, he answered the phone: "just turn around where ever you are." sorry to hear about your drive, bruce. if i had your cell, i would have called. we were less than 30 minutes away (2 hours into the 2.5 hour drive).

I made it there at 11:10 am. Someone showed up at about 11:20 or so and told us that it was cancelled. Tym did give me my money back (minus $2 race listings fee) though.

I'm going to try to do a few, just no idea which ones at this point. Last year I did just about every mountain bike race in the series, some of which I don't really care for. This year I'm planning on just doing the ones that I like and making sure that I do enough to qualify for the overall points. Other than that I plan on travelling for a few different mountain bike races and some extra road races.

My plan for next year is to concentrate on the road and just hit a few of my favorite mountain bike races.

LowCel .. that sucks. Driving that distance just to be snowed out.

Hope to see you soon. I rode 43 mi. today. felt good. Did you do the MTB race at S&S Trails last year? Its a tough grueling race with fast down hills and techy climbs. I plan on doing this race again this year as it had me crying from leg cramps on the last lap. Gotta go back for more abuse.
