Zipps are here

They look fine, outstanding condition. Two very minor issues: rear tire has a balky valve (I'll replace the tire, teflon tape the valve, use the existing tire as a spare). Zipp logos are slightly yellowed (for six months in 06 Zipp was embedding the Zipp logos into the CF, they no longer do that). Gives the wheels character (and new Zipp stickers aren't exactly expensive).

Otherwise just about perfect. Very pleased. Great deal @ $1200 w/ Conti Sprinters. Skewers and brake pads are on order @ the LBS along with another D.A. 11-23 cluster. And I'm not sure I'll need a 23 with these babies. Amazing.

Zipp CF wheels exude a Forumula One high tech aura that no other bike schwag short of Lew Racing Borons for Morons can probably match. My staff was in awe. These are truly the Bike Schwag *****.

I heart eBay.

Nice. Zipps are good for at least +5mph on the flats and +3mph in the hills.

49 years old Botto. The only place it says 50 is on my racing license.

'License to Race'. Sounds like a James Bond film plot element.

It's not. It's a Permit to Get Friggin Hammered Even If You Don't Drink card.

since the 404's i got off ebay from puerto rico are kinda crap I might be purchasing another set.

My rear has a crack in the braking surface and the front's spokes are pulling through a little bit (anger)

Have I ever told you about my torrid affair with Kate Moss PCad? It'd be nice if I could produce photos to prove it but it's just a tall tale without pics.

No doubt...my wife is Puerto Rican and we get down there from time to time....I find it hard to believe anyone would ride a road bike there...forget the quality of the roads, the drivers are fooking crazy.

i know. i rode a bike around the NW corner of PR for a few weeks (Rincon).

that, and riding in cars, driven by friends who were as drunk as me, led me to wonder whether i was playing russian roulette with my life & limbs.

good times!

Although I am happy for you and your Zipp purchase (you can now officially be called Zippy the Pin Headed Cyclist) there are other good CF wheels the 404's price range. Reynolds Stratus, for example, have come out on top of many road tests against the 404's.

It's because of the little dimples....which can also help with a bad slice...
