Die like an Animal

Bob Rolls latest, greatest expression.
This is what Domestiques do, when supporting
their team captain. Go out on the road and die
like an animal.
Now, just what the hell does that mean?

Don't you just love Bobke?

Marty

I think Phil's Liggetisms are better then anything else though .... someplace I have a big list of em.

My personal favorite was "He's really thrown a cat amongst the pigeons now" refering to a rider attempting a solo break near the finish if I remember correctly.

I enjoy the trio very much, but I like Bob the best for some odd reason.

Sounds like comments made by Theo De Rooy years ago after he completed a Paris-Roubaix. It was to the effect of, "You work like an animal. You don't even have the time to wet your pants..."

Although I roll on the floor listening to Bobke, they all have some interesting turns of phrase. When Paul is describing someone they are always descending or whatever "...like an absolute MADman." or "...using the biggest gear he has." In fact, during last year's TDF there were some cute commercials for OLN's Tour coverage including one in which several kitted out cyclists are watching the Tour coverage and playing OLN or TDF (can't recall) Bingo. On the card you could see were exactly these types of phrases for one to check off when heard. Actually seemed like a fun game to me!

Phil Liggett talking about Eddy Merckx, " of course Merckx could descend like a rock"

he was doing the commentary on the bike race in philadelphia last weekend. they got to talking about the riders wearing radio's and phil said he never liked that.
the other commentator asked why not. Phil said he thought they oughta use other methods to find out what was going on at the front of the race or in the break away.
phil,"like ride up there and have a look"

those guys really do a great job. they remind me a lot of speed channels F1 commentators. all people who were involved in the sport, very knowledgable, and not worried about PC

there are no bicycles in the valley, the only bicycle you find in the valley is the bicycle you ride down there.
Ride in the front, this space is available to anyone that wishes to take it-jjmolyet
