Simoni

More Basso bashing from Simoni.

Is it me, or does Simoni have this constant obsession with Basso?

"Now, when I talk of Basso I am always a little bit of a bastard". Ain't that the truth.

Isn't G. Simoni about the highest paid rider in the UCI? I think he's pretty happy with the dough too. He's making like 3 million Euros for riding his racing bike, and God only knows what kind of endorsement deals he has in cycling-mad Italy. I'll bet that dude pulls down 5 million Euros no problem.

It's all allegation and sniping. He should shut up and ride his bike.

Why don't we just ask Simoni? He is, after all, a BF member.

I like grouchy old guys up to a point, but I'd really like to know exactly how much IB's offer was. Just out of curiosity.

Does anyone doubt this sort of thing happens?

Maybe it's a translation thing, but to me, Simoni comes off as a big crybaby ... boo hoo, basso wouldnt let me win a stage; boo hoo, cunego wouldnt wait for me; boo hoo, salvodelli didnt attack and doesnt deserve the giro.

Enough already, just admit you didnt have the legs.

Word. If the stage was that important, he could've just beaten Ivan to the line.

Is he whining about Basso again? Didn't he already retract that accusation about the money? Is he still ******** about Cunego mopping the floor with him a few years back? Do we detect a pattern?

Actually it just looks like he didn't have the right "medical team".

. . .oh I almost forgot-if Basso gets sanctioned (which looks more and more likely) who will be the winner of the 2006 Giro?

As Basso may or may not have committed an offense that was not illegal, he's in the clear with regards to the 2006 Giro...

Why didn't cyclingnews publish the whole article? Sometimes, they smell like the NY Times or L'Equipe.

People bashed Basso for being a doper. Out here.

Simoni rides in support of Ricco' today in "La Doyenne".

It's fascinating to watch people that maybe race for 45 minutes once a week evalute what goes on thousands of miles away in professional racing. Fascinating.

If you want to read racing evaluations done by people that really race, try the Daily Peloton.

As does yours.

I'm guessing if you're going to post as "Simoni, king of the Dolomites, " you must really be an authority, i.e. you watch at least 90 minutes of pro cycling a week.

Anyway, thanks for letting us wannabes in on the "real deal" there, Gilberto.

You don't know who I really am (I like it like that), but I know as much about this sport as you do about being a doctor.

And I do know the real Simoni. Maybe I'll photo the pink jersey he gave me during his last Giro win.

I love cat 4's and 5's being critical of two time Grand Tour winners.

Do you have to work for the NFL to have an opinion about pro football?

I don't need photos of your maglia rossa. In fact, if you actually do know him it's even creepier that you would choose to impersonate him with your username and avatar.

You know what they say about opinions...

BTW...like many other's out here, it's most likely a satirical thing...other's might call it joking.

Lighten up a bit. This is Bikeforums. Nothing's serious. Half of what's out here is urban legend.

BTW...it's "rosa". One "s".

Hey...maybe Simoni is the "return of Euro"...

Oops. Rosa it is.

OK, sorry Simoni. You caught me in a bad mood, and I apologize for giving you a hard time.

Will the real Gilberto Simoni please stand up?

Maybe his anger will translate to harder riding this year...this must be part of his Giro training regimen. He's gotta be thinking his chances are pretty good, now that Basso is on the outs.
