just signed up for a mtb race =o)

getting a little burned out on all these crits...and the RR are too few and far between sooo a little fun is in store. Booked a nice room in the area and will be attending the fat tire festival the day before the race with the family and then try my luck in the CC course. :D No expectations, no worries about placings or points, just give it a go and have some fun..aside from a friendly wager with a budd for a pitcher (hes a mtb'r and is feeling confident tee hee)

im excited :D :D

Just did my first mtn bike race on sunday(4th mtn bike ride) and all I can give as advice is use them roadie legs to smash them on the hills. I put booko time in on the climbs so I could coast and keep it upright on the decent.

Personally I would have rather been at cat's hill or any other road event.

+1 on getting out there and mixing it up and trying different things. You never know what will happen. Either you beat your buddy, or you pay up for 2 beers. Either way you win!!

heh thanks for the advice...im on the other end of the spectrum. I was at cats hill and while i had no problem sticking with the group...i also didnt have the desire to move up or contest a finish...just wanted the race to end. Tough course though, there was not many oppurtunities to advance.

Yes this will be a no stress fun riding weekend...havent had one of those in a while.

Oh ya there is a BEER GARDEN!! how cool is that! Gotta admit the MTB'rs know how to enjoy themselves.

Cool, have fun. I've done a handful of MTB races and done very well in them. The roadie legs and lungs really help. Start position is extremely important if the course narrows after the line.

In my first MTB race, I was the 44th rider across the start line out of 44 riders. I passed people for the whole race until I heard my name announced in 4th place. I ended up 3rd, in a sprint for 2nd. If I'd have gotten a better start, I might have won.

Good times...
