First Crit Report: Wheel & Sprocket

So the race was last sunday. I got to the course at about 8:15 and got all registered, and did my warmup. I also had to scramble to block out my gears, because I forgot to do that earlier. So we get on the course and the officials tell us to take a lap. We come around and line up again and the official tells the kid standing next to me to move my number because it's too far down. great way to start your first race, having a kid riding a colonago with a 1500$ wheelset help you pin your number on straight at the line. So anyways we start off and we immediatly pick it up to 24-26 mph. Im holding on ok but I know I can't hold it the whole race. Within two laps we dropped 6-8 people out of the original 25. We keep going, we slow down and speed up without any real reason. Then two or three guys made a break away, that ended up sticking. I was still in the pack. We sprint for a couple primes but I dont win any . Eventually the last lap rolls around, and I didn't know it so I didn't sprint as hard as I could. I ended up in 17th. Pretty much the back end of the main pack.

I was really happy because
1) I hung with the main pack
2) I didnt crash
3) About half the field was cat 3's with a few 4's and 5's

I deciced to race the Cat 4/5 race which was about 35 mins after the juniors race. This one was faster. I got dropped about 15-20 mins. in. I ended up working with two other guys who were a lap down. I finished 21st out of ~30, so not DFL

Yep first and seccond crits. There was one kind of squirrelly kid, he was kind of over-weight, and he got dropped in the first two laps of the juniors race, but he was a cat 3, so I dont really know what was going on there.

I have a few pics from the cat 4/5 race i'll put up later
