Discussion involving giro and tinkoff(for the spoiler haters)
While this isn't a spoiler thread I figured I would warn other since any discussion of a race in progress seems to get the same response. Did Tinkoff hold their spring training camp at vinokourov's house or something? Every day they are in the early break, late break, attack, attack, attack, these guys just dont say die. I love it. Pavel Brutt is my new hero, he has put out massive efforts day after day in the break and keeps charging.
Is this simply a case of no team leader so lets get as much exposure as we can or do they hope for that off chance that a break might stay and they will see a day in the Maglia Rosa? It just seems like a ton of waisted energy with such a hard race ahead of them. They are still in the flat stages and the guys are going to be toasted.

In the end, it's not about fininshing the race 100th on GC, it was about media time (which equals dollars). TV, newspapers, etc will discuss the happenings each day and the Tinkoff team will gain huge publicity, versus the smaller teams that sat back conserving, just hoping to get through the 3 weeks.
I've always told the local teams to ride aggressive, because nobody remembers who got 2nd through last, only first place and the animators. Ever watch a local crit and see some team that was in the thick of it from start to finish? You remember them. Did you see who got 6th? Very doubtful.
Good for Tinkoff.

Teams with nothing to lose tend to ride that way. If they were the last place team in the GC and they were just sitting in every day I bet there wouldn't be a thread about Tinkoff today.
Their sponsors thank you.

To credit mr. tinkoff(dont know his first name) he is a huge bike racing fan and following the race with the team. Good to see that kind of sponsor, for him it is about the love of the sport.

I think Ignatiev and Brutt will figure it out eventually. These guys are monstrously powerful. I expect with a little discipline and shrewdness, they will be winning stages before long.
