Photos of Exhausted Giro Riders

Anyone know what the temperature was at the race?

What a stage!

Cunego

Pinotti

Does Noe even have the energy to get the maglia rosa on?

Gene didn't even make it to the finish line (really a crash)

Look at the expression on Arvessen's face. He looks tired.

I don't think Rubiera ever wants to see that mountain again.

Laverde looking destroyed.

Rebellin is not doing well...

Savoldelli looks like he went through Paris-Roubaix

THIS is the epitome of that stage. I think if anyone asks you what happened on stage 10, just show them this:

Pinotti lost the jersey, but not without putting up a fight.

On a somewhat related note, who is the photographer who made a photo series of pro tour riders right after they crossed the finish line all dirty, sweaty and tired? I recall seeing it somewhere but don't recall the url.

You can't tell it from the picture but, he's only about 15 feet beyond the finish line. It was that punishing.

Fantastic photos.

Those blokes would be much less tired if they resorted to taking performance enhancing substances.

Wow, exhausted racers!!

Maybe they're afraid of having Dick* pound into them and have stopped doping?

No EPO = exhausted racers

Just goes to show that being amazingly fit is only part of the deal being a pro - you have to know how to suffer beyond what you're used to.

In the live feed, after the first dozen riders or so almost collapsed on the line, it looked like 'catchers' were grabbing riders as they crossed before they fell.

Question: "Anyone know what the temperature was at the race?" Max temp in Genoa yesterday was 78 degrees F. Probably a few degrees cooler at the finishline. Also noted there were 8 DNF yesterday on that stage.

Exibit #1 for why racers typically use tubulars...got to love it when your clincher comes off the rim.

That fits nicely with the oft' echoed contention about clinchers discussed in this thread:

Andy Schleck looks like he is about to puke after that last stretch of 14%

The other site to see is Popo holding onto the rail right after crossing the line. I've never seen so many protour riders so punked out!
