Possible New Race Bike
Currently on a 50cm CAAD8.
Thinking about getting a 48 or 50cm CAAD9, with the following:
Frame/Fork: Cannondale CAAD9 w/ Slice Premium + fork
Bars: FSA RD200 40cm
Stem: FSA OS115 110mm
Post: FSA something or other
Seat: SLR
Wheels: OP/Ultegra front, OP/PT rear.
Group: DA shifters, Ultegra FD/RD
Crank: Ultegra with 54t FSA TT outer, Ultegra 39t inner.
Cassette: 11-23 Ultegra
Pedals: Speedplay Zero SS
For TT's: Vision Tech Mini Clip-Ons
Any comments and/or suggestions?

they are both stiff and aluminum, what would the gain be? I know cannondale claims the caad9 to have a greater torsional stiffness but do you feel the caad8 is flexy?

You know the story, just make sure you arent compromising any fit criteria when choosing your frame size. I know nothing about c-dale sizing/geometry, but I'm 5'7" with shoes on, legs are shorter than torso, and a 48/50 frame is usually OK for me "vertically" but too short for me "horizontally".
54T big ring ... is that TT only or for gen. racing use, that's manly.

Well, the frame is making bad sounds. Not the BB, headset, fork, seatpost or wheels. Time for a new one, really. Not looking to "gain" anything; I just need a new frame to ride.

You're 5'7" and ride a 50cm bike with a 110mm stem?

Have you never ridden a Creakendale? Mine creaks and cracks all day long. It's endearing.

I love my CAAD9. It is a bit of a creaker but I like that actually...gives it character...I feel one with the road honestly. I couldn't ask for a better frame for racing.

CAAD8 to CAAD9 jump seems redundant... they are essentially the same frame. CAAD9 is just a little bit stiffer but it's plenty stiff to start. But you knew that.
