    Tubulars for road races?

Tubulars make buku sense for crits. What about longish road stages? TTs? I assume the pro pelotons are riding them - they have the support (spare bikes/wheels/etc). What about in the amateur ranks?

Rolling a clincher in a fast descent in a RR would suck just as bad as rolling on in a corner. Tubies FTW.
Lots of amateurs ride them in the 1/2 and 3 ranks.

All the road races around here have a wheel truck. And if you had to repair your own flat without a new wheel your race would be over anyway regardless of whether you were riding clinchers or tubulars.
