Tom Danielson - *Dauphine Spoiler...ish?*
Drops out of the first stage with a Stomach Problem.
Seems like this kid is always suffering from some sort of health issue,no?...he's the Grant Hill of American Cycling.

At his age (yes, I used the term "Kid" loosely) talent should include a natural leadership and the ability to see it thru to the end. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a decent cyclist, just not the level he was hyped up to be during his signing to the Disco team...but that's old news already known.

Schleck rode the lights out of that Giro, and while Danielson's had a respectable Vuelta finish, it's not proportionate to the hype.

How pissed do you think the other Disco riders are with Danielson? I mean, this guy in interviews comes off all pissed off that Disco hired Basso and Levi, as if Tom is the heir apparant. And then, Danielson has absolutely puked in his own mouth repeatedly this season.
I feel bad, because Danielson has done a lot for riding in Colorado (his Junior's Series is going to help develop talent in the United States). I think these "ailments" are nothing more than Tom's excuses for dropping out when he realizes he just does not have the engine to keep up in the European Pro Peleton.
I mean, Tom has ridden the ToC and TdG, which, are both American races with a majority of the peleton being domestic US riders. Ironic he seems to be able to remain in those races.

i have to laugh when i think back to how many cyclists were labeled as "the next armstrong". danielson was one of them, so was hincapie, landis, etc.

It'd be really good for him to go back to the US peleton and actually win some races. Because that's really what he wants to do, and he's not going to do it in Europe.

Example:
A team like Slipstream would be good for him...but Tom D would not be good for a team like Slipstream (ie, a team just a year or so out from really breaking into the Pro Tour, if all goes well)
