40k TT for the noob

what do you think the average speed would be for a 40k TT for a cat5 pace on almost flat ground with no wind?

If you want to win Cat. 5 State Championships, under an hour. Otherwise, 1:05-1:10.

I'll let you know Saturday afternoon.

Based on past results, the 40k TT I'm doing (Church Creek), the top Cat5 guys will be around 24.5-25 mph, the middle 22+, the back about 20mph

In my area, the Cat 5 winner went 51:48 for 38.5km (avg. 45km/hr.) I assume the winner would be capable of a 40km time close to that pace. The bulk of the Cat 5's are around 54 to 56min for 38.5km (avg. 40km/hr).

But km's are shorter in Canada.

Well have to see how stiff the field is on Saturday. Although it pretty windy today and I did an extra 3k (I was just kinda guessing where the start/finish and turn around points were, total, 26.76 miles) I did the course in 1:12 minutes averaging 22.1 mph for practice. I am not too serious about racing just yet (its cat 5) and will just be doing it with my tried and true Steel road bike (Probally tips the scales at 24ish lbs with water, pedals and computer). Well see how I do.

The place that I can see myself improve is the turn around points (its on a straight 7ish mile road, so 3 turn around points) and secondly, I need to bring a Gu or something along, because I get a little on the weak side at 45 minutes with the output I am doing. If I eat a good breakfast and shot one up at around 30 minutes, I will be able to finish strong and hopefully shave about a minute off the last leg.

Assuming a few things that a)my garmin is correct (pase of 2.42 min/mile), b)the course is really 40k (24.85 miles) then I am on pace to do it in 60.14 minutes.
